Cataanda James has been passionate about her craft since childhood. She knew from an early age that she was destined to impact the world with her artistry. She gratefully acknowledges that it is her God given talent that always shines through her work.
No stranger to the business, she has worked for M.A.C. Cosmetics where she continues to serve as a freelance artist and has represented L?Oreal at the Sundance Film Festival, Speaking of Women?s Health, and Essence Music Festival. Cataanda is a National Consultant for L?Oreal Paris, managing their Bridal Expos and My Style My Way tours. Her unique make-up artistry has been displayed through her freelance work with hair carepany Farouk Systems USA and Stila Cosmetics. Cataanda?s stunning concepts expand beyond painting a perfect face, as she is a licensed cosmetologist and certified skin care specialist. Knowledgeable about all aspects of the industry, she is the recipient of many honorary certificates of achievement.
A focal point being the eyes, Cataanda?s signature ?Cat-Eyez? has been recognized on the runways of The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Having worked with an A-list clientele including Nick Nolte, America Ferrera, John Waters and Terrence Howard, her skills are in constant demand. She is sought after for her keen eye to develop and create celebrity and professional images.
Cataanda?s work has graced such magazines as Essence and LRM (Lincoln Road Magazine) and she has served as Director of Make-up for Seventeen and Black Men Magazines. She has collaborated on projects with Absolute Vodka, 98.7 Kiss FM/NY and Honey Magazine. Recent film projects include Cuttin Da Mustard and SeHabla Espanol, which have taken this artist from the runway to the silver screen and everywhere in between. This is her passion and she believes that God has placed her on earth to do this!
