Wedding Bands

The Norman Sylvester Band was formed in 1985.

The band is based in Portland Oregon and has performed in the region of the Pacific Northwest.

The band has shared billing with B.B. King, Otis Clay, Tower of Power, Kenny Neal, James Cotton, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Canned Heat, Lil’ Ed and the Imperials and many other touring bands.

The Norman Sylvester Band performs at all the major indoor and outdoor festivals and club venues in the Portland area.
The Norman Sylvester band is also available for corporate parties and wedding receptions.

Norman Sylvester was Born in Bonita Louisiana on September 14, 1945. His father who sang in a gospel group (The Spiritual Five) exposed him to music at an early age. The Sylvester family moved to Portland in the summer of 1957.

Norman’s first guitar cost $11.85. He started playing in concert in 1965 with Seattle blues guitarist Isaac Scott. Isaac gave Norman his first guitar lesson.

Norman’s major musical influences were B.B. King, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Albert King and The Great Muddy Water.

Norman Sylvester is a songwriter, vocalist and guitarist. Norman has created his own unique style of guitar and has lived every lyric he ever wrote.

Norman performs in the Portland and all over the Northwest.
