Belly Dancers

As an Oriental, Boston-based dancer, Samarra is a regular performer at festivals, restaurants, clubs, and private parties. She's able to perform in a multitude of styles, from American Cabaret, to Egyptian and Oriental-Jazz Fusion. She draws her inspiration from legendary Egyptian stars, like Nadia Gamal and Nagwa Fouad. Having studied extensively with masters of Egyptian dance, Samarra fine-tuned her craft under Mo Geddawi, Nagwa Fouad, Mahmoud Reda, Yousry Sharif, Faten Salama, Lubna Emam, Morocco and Tito. Jazz and ballet are also staples of her studies and she teaches Belly Dance workshops at the Cambridge Center for Adult Ed.

Always in search of new outlets to express and showcase her love of belly dance, Samarra regularly performs with circus group, Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band, and Grammy nominated rock band, Axmunkee. Traveling extensively and performing as far as Panama, Puerto Rico, New York, and Mexico, Samarra also produces phenomenal Oriental Fusion shows in Cambridge at the All Asia Cafe. She incorporates stunning props into her sensational routine, like zils, veils, canes, swords, and candles. Samarra is a seasoned professional that is sure to stun guests at your wedding reception, birthday, corporate function, or cultural celebration.

Oriental Fusion ShowProducing and performing shows of her own in the Oriental fusion fashion, many dancerse together to perform their own unique choreography to music and fit a certain theme. Samarra and the dancers drawn to these shows are excited about exploring every possibility of blending an array of other dance genres with the classic Middle Eastern style. They seize the opportunity to be creative and relish in hip-swaying dance to great music. These shows typically take place at the All Asia Cafe, and feature more traditional dancing with a live music segment. This venue plays music that is most adequately described as a Middle Eastern-style improvised jam. The region's most talented musicianse from a variety of different backgrounds and mix their unique skills and cultures to delight crowds with a music experience that won't be found anywhere else.
