The Country Music Project
countrymusicproject
The Country Music Project is an eclectic mix of musicians, from a variety of musical backgrounds, who all share one thing inmon - a undeniable love of music!
TCMP formed in the summer of 2009 when Michael Rice (vocals/guitars/keyboards) and Heather Hanson (banjo /guitar /mandolin) went in search of musicians to start a country band. Inspired by the inventive sounds of today's modern country artists, they looked for players who embraced the traditional sounds but had the desire to perform today's modern country.
Mike Pfannenstiel (drums and percussion) was the first addition, bringing a background in alternative and outlaw country. Rick Anderson (lead guitar) joined the group in late summer 2009 as a fiddle player. When the lead guitarist left the group, Rick switched to lead guitar, and he's held that role since that date.
When the group's original female vocalist moved on to another project, Rice and Hanson went in search of another lead singer. When a DJ at a local karaoke bar told them about a female vocalist who frequented the club, TCMP found the band's current lead singer Connie Lopez.
Without a fiddle player, TCMP began it's search for someone who could fill the position In December of 2010, Mike introduced a fiddle player he worked with in an altnerative country band. Mollie Meredith, classically trained as a violinist, and having studied at the Aspen Music Festival's School of Music, Mollie brings a sweet sophistication to her performances with TCMP.
As the gigging schedule got busier, TCMP found itself in need of a second female lead vocalist. Christie Brill joined the group in April of 2011 and immediately became party of the TCMP family. With a tremendous resume' of vocal performances, song writing skills and ability to harmonize with Connie, the group expanded its vocal lineup.
Scott McGough joined the band in the summer of 2011. Having played in the same alternative country band with Mollie and Mike, Scott hastily joined the group when the current bassist was unable to continue. Not only did we learn he's a great bass guitar player, he's a great singer too, adding another layer of vocals to TCMP's already powerful vocal lineup.
With the addition of McGough, Brill, TCMP now has the ability to perform the four-part harmonies heard by the likes of Little Big Town, Gloriana, Lonestar, and even Rascal Flatts. With the most power vocal lineup in the Denver marketplace, TCMP is a must see for fans of vocal country music!
Every country music fan realizes that the genre is constantly changing. But still, it's a musical style with a strong connection to its roots. TCMP works hard to honor the traditional sounds of country music and at the same time tackle the modern sounds of today's artists as well.
With its mix of male and female four-part vocals, and instrumentation that includes acoustic, electric and steel guitars, mandolin, banjo, keyboards, bass and drums, TCMP keeps alive the old sound of country music, but has the power to punch out the popular sounds of today's new artists. Most of all, TCMP wants to sound like a group of musicians, rather than a collection of amplifiers. Our sound won't leave your ears ringing!
TCMP prides itself on the purity of its vocals and acoustic instrumentation, and the way our guitars and rhythm section blend together to make enjoyable, danceable music!
