Yesterday's Child was born out of a labor of love, a love of fine classic rock music, and, well, Labor Day itself. Let us tell you a short story about our
Way way back when we were younger. So much younger than today. Talking 'bout yesterday, folks.. Children of yesterday to be sure. Music on the radio and in the airwaves was quite exciting indeed. Songs were psychedelic and rich with the sounds of what became classic rock. But it was quite new then virginal and unpoisoned by ravages of time. There were so many wonderful sounds to listen to: The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Miles Davis, Chuck Berry, Frank Zappa, Cream, CSN, Buffalo Springfield, Yes, The Doors, Jethro Tull, S, there was all this fantastic music out there. Each of us, in our own time and our own way, absorbed the best of these musical vibes they became the very fabric of our being. This music is what makes our collective and separate hearts tick, and is what gets our collective and separate rocks off. Floating on the inspirations of this wonderful music, a few of us have even travelled beyond the proverbial moon and lived to tell the tale. Without this special music life would be rather droll. This excellent music drew us all to our instruments of choice. The masters of classic rock became our teachers and mentors. They helped us to define and enjoy the world we grew up in. Without these tunes we would never have, um, experimented in our various experimentations, became the fine specimens we are today, or met the wonderful people we havee to know as our best lifelong friends,
Fast-forward a few years to the summer of 2001. A gathering over Labor Day at the home of band founder, Andy Carellos, saw several groups get together to play some musics. At the end of it all there were still a few cats who wanted to get in on the action and have a jam session. And jam they did!! This was the embryonic incarnation of what would be Yesterday's Child. We didn't yet know a bunch of songs together, but we had a great time showing off our chops and playing some of our favorite tunes from when we were growing up. Well, it turns out this wasn't the one-shot deal it started out to be. In fact, nearly TEN YEARS later, several personnel changes, and many many gigs and venues under our belts, Yesterday's Child has morphed to epass the true essence of the best songs in our lives. The best classic rock and roll music is an incontrovertable part of our very fabric. And it is our uniquely wonderful pleasure to bring life to the songs we loved as kids and still love 's Child!!
