Cantor Barbra Lieberstein was ordained at The Academy For Jewish Religion, NYC in 1998. During her student years and after graduation, she served Reform and Reconstructionist pulpits in New Jersey as well as in Long Island. As a cantor, she built up adult and children's choirs, developed the curriculum for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah students and taught adult B'nai Mitzvah classes.

Tutoring
Cantor Barbra tutors Bar/Bat Mitzvah candidates weekly in the convenience of their homes in Bergen County, NJ as well as Rockland County, NY. Lessons are usually 45 minutes to 1 hour per child. The majority of the lesson time is spent learning how to read in Hebrew and the prayers that the student(s) need(s) to know for his/her special day. The remainder of the time includes Torah, Jewish holidays and what it means to be Jewish.

Weddings
Each ceremony is unique intertwining the Jewish Ceremony order and customs which is why having a Jewish officiant to guide you is so important. Sensitivity, wise counsel and dignified manner will allow us to construct a ceremony together that will reflect your union and the fundamental beliefs that you share.

Jews today wish to affirm their Jewish identity with ceremonies that make connections to our cultural heritage and also use language that is compatible with our own values and philosophy. We mark the passages of our lives with creative and innovative rituals that are consistent with our secular beliefs and principles.

Baby Namings
The brit bat is the covenant ceremony that parallels the boy's brit milah. In this ceremony we welcome a new baby girl into the world with thanks and blessing and give her a Hebrew name.

Generally, we hold this ceremony one month after the baby is born, rather than the eight days of the boy's brit milah. However, since this ceremony is a modern invention, there is no time set for the ceremony.
