Nifty Fifties is the time to take out the Poodle skirts, rock and roll and classic cars, which define a time in history full of fun and swing.

Setup
In a big gymnasium or room for dancing.
Decor
Bright lights, except for slow dances. Decorations: High school pennants on walls, Letterman swatters/football jackets displayed, yearbooks, old photos. Props can include, balloons, black cut outs of sock hoppers, sunglasses, vinyl records, classic cars, guitars, soda bottles and music notes.
Dress code
Dress in 50's clothes: short sleeved sweaters, Felt A-frame skirts, wide belts, Bobby sox, saddle oxfords. Boys: Tee shirts, hip level jeans, sunglasses white bucks, letterman sweaters. Dance steps, the slide, the jerk, the stomp, the locomotion, the twist.
Music
Dance to the music of the 50's and 60's rhythm and blues, fats domino temptations, Everly Bros. Rock and Roll, Elvis, Presley, Beats, Little Richard, Mirth and the Vandellas. Pop songs "Crooners", Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis
Food/Drinks
Hamburgers, French fries, Chef's salad, malted milk shakes, suicide cokes, deep dish pies, ice cream cones.
Tips
Dance steps, the slide, the jerk, the stomp, the locomotion, the twist. Give awards to students: Best singer, Best dance couple. Show movie: "Rebel without a Cause" or Leave It to Beaver"
